Meet Finnegan O'Malley
About Finnegan O'Malley** FINN IS NOT AT UPAWS **Finn is a beautiful boy. He loves being outside. He needs a home that will be able to be very active with him. His boredom can cause unwanted behavior, mostly barking at anything that moves or barks. He has had some training, but not enough. He learns quickly and loves having a job to do. His favorite thing is fetching his Chuckit glow balls. I have plenty to donate. Ideally, Finn should go to a home with a very large, secured fenced yard. He has been known to dig his way out during Spring when the deer are coming home. He hasn't had any health issues. He's from pure bred true cattle farming parents, so his instincts to herd and run are very strong. He weighs about 60 lbs. You must not have an issue with shedding, because Aussies SHED. He will need brushing at least 3 to 4 times a week. Due to health issues for myself, I have not been able to keep up with socializing and walking as I had hoped to.He seems to extremely dislike small dogs. So no small dogs.He will dig if he thinks he can find a way out. But usually only when deer come back or he is really bored. We play ball at least 4 to 8 times a day. Just throw and return...he loves it.He is always well behaved at the Vet. Walks well on leash. He eats 2 times a day. No grazing. Loves a couple bites of Cheddar cheese in the morning to start his day. He does his routine of tricks for each bite. He has a companion here with us, I'm not sure how he'd be with your dog if you have one. So meeting in a neutral place is vital. NO SMALL DOGSFinn is not a good candidate for close neighbors, or apartment living. So please only inquire if you have SPACE for him, and a strong desire for a best friend to adventure with you so that he will be happy and live his best life. An owner that has a good understanding of the demanding personality of Aussies would be ideal.Finn has been around my 2 small grandchildren and is fine with them. I do not know how he'd be around other children. If you work all day and plan to crate him, I don't feel that would be a good match for Finn. He is crate trained, but it's not his favorite place to be. He has never chewed anything - except dog beds! So don't waste your money. With his thick coat, he prefers a nice cool floor. He has not been one to "play well with others" when I am around. Again, he needs socializing and training for him to be his best. He is reactive or has been lately. Not enough exposure. (more training)He loves the snow! He enjoys car rides. He will sleep on your bed if you allow him. I'd suggest not. (the hair)He has no issues with Fireworks noise, nor thunderstorms. He does have some resource protection issues - food or bones with other dogs trying to "share". But only a few times. We just avoid the situation and our other dog learned not to be dumb.Finnegan really is a wonderful dog. Just too much for us as we age.Do you have all the things Finn needs to help him be his best?? Please reach out and we will have you meet and greet. He will be with a foster during this process. But I will set up the meetings for you. I have an Arizona phone number, but live in Negaunee. Meetings should occur at Al Qual park in Ishpeming. If interested please contact Loree at 480-518-3058 or [emailprotected]
