Hi friends, and welcome to July’s monthly astrology forecast! A lot has changed in the cosmos over the last 30 days.
In June’s horoscopes, there was a ton happening in Gemini, whereas most of July’s astrology is centered around Leo, the fixed, fire sign of the zodiac. This month comes with a ton of oppositions involving Pluto in Aquarius, a powerful planet that stirs up the desire for control and dominance. Pluto’s influence will be aimed at the Sun, Mercury, and Venus as they enter Leo this month, bringing some pretty major moments to the Leo-ruled house of your birth chart. If you’re a fixed rising sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) or you have Leo placements (especially around 1 degree), this month will be a major one for you, so buckle up! Things are changing, and fast.
July’s astrology begins with Mercury moving into Leo on July 2, shifting our collective communication style from subdued and receptive to bold and direct. Personally, I love people who have Mercury in Leo, because they sugarcoat nothing. They’re also incredibly passionate and loud about subjects that resonate with them. Mercury’s time in Leo will be pretty brief (only lasting until July 25), but it will pack a punch and allow you to become reacquainted with your inner voice. Get loud and talk your sh*t, but be mindful of the impact of your words and thoughts around July 3, as Mercury in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius at 1 degree.
By July 5, we get a very cute Cancer new moon at 14 degrees, resetting the ways in which you seek comfort, safety, and familiarity. Since the Moon will be in her home sign today, it should be pretty easy to acknowledge and fulfill your instinctual needs and desires, especially once the Moon conjoins Venus in Cancer the next day, on July 6. New moons usually indicate where there’s an increased focus in your life, be it by choice or otherwise. Take a moment to pause and check in with yourself today, and have a good cry if you need to!
Venus enters Leo on July 11, bringing a stronger sense of urgency to our desire for pleasure, support, and connection. Venus in Leo is very loud about what she wants, and she doesn’t apologize for it. This transit inspires us to love ourselves and one another loudly, without restraint. It’s a really good time to invest in yourself, especially through haircare! Since I have Leo in my second house, my spending habits tend to spike when Venus is in Leo, but I feel like this can apply to most people. Venus in Leo is a placement that’s super into luxury, so you may feel more compelled to invest in high-end jewelry or designer bags during this period. Venus will immediately oppose Pluto in Aquarius at 1 degree by July 12, intensifying our desires and prompting extreme displays of affection, possession, and lust. Venus-Pluto oppositions can oftentimes stir up control dynamics in love affairs, or power dynamics between two people. Venus in Leo is a pretty prideful placement on its own, so I’d be mindful of letting your ego get the best of you this month, especially in love affairs.
Things briefly shift away from the Leo-ruled house in your birth chart by July 15, as Mars meets up with Uranus at 26 degrees of Taurus, stirring up unpredictable action and impulsive decision-making. NGL, when Mars and Uranus come together, they have the potential to be destructive, due to the assertive nature of Mars and the volatility of Uranus. In Taurus, this could prompt sudden changes regarding money, food, and other essential resources. I’d also be on alert for explosive outbursts on or around this day, *especially* if you have Mars in Taurus natally. Generally speaking, Mars-Uranus conjunctions have often coincided with an uptick in injuries, violence, or atrocities in the world at large. Personally, I think it’s a really good day to take things slowly. Try not to jump the gun or get too ahead of yourself today, or it may have some unexpected consequences.
By July 20, Mars departs Taurus and enters chatty and curious Gemini! This transit will be much more playful and light-hearted than the last few Mars transits we’ve had, stimulating you mentally, and motivating you to pursue a variety of different thoughts and ideas. When Mars is in Gemini, we tend to feel driven towards accumulating and sharing information at a more upbeat and restless pace. From now until September 4, expect to be socializing and communicating with others more than usual! This is a great transit for networking or committing to learning a new skill, as well as exploring different ideas, perspectives, and interests. Arguments and verbal debates may also spike during this period, since Mars will be in Mercury’s sign — so try to be mindful of the propensity to go back and forth with other people (especially online!)
The final lunation of the month takes place on July 21, a full moon in Capricorn at 29 degrees. This is the second Capricorn full moon this season, and it appears to be much more intense than the previous one, since the Moon will be conjoining Pluto very shortly after it goes exact. I’ll be making a seperate post about this full moon that goes into more detail, but overall, it will be bringing the current state of your Capricorn-ruled house into focus. What are some of the responsibilities and obligations that may need more refinement or more fine tuning? Capricorn lunations are often a moment to tighten our belt, or to re-assess the boundaries that exist in this area of our lives. Since the Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, lunations in this sign tend to feel pretty heavy due to a strong sense of duty or obligation we often feel.
By July 22, the Sun enters its home sign of Leo, restoring a sense of self-awareness, confidence, and vibrance in the cosmos. Leo season is when we often feel re-vitalized, especially after a month of emotional ebb and flow. However, this is the first Leo season with Pluto in Aquarius, so this time of year will feel much more intense than usual. When the Sun opposes Pluto, it can prompt extreme displays of ego, arrogance, and a desire to be in control. You may feel more compelled to assert your dominance over another person or situation around this time, especially on July 23 when the Sun-Pluto opposition goes exact. I’d definitely keep an eye out for this transit if you are a Leo Sun or rising, or have Leo on the angles in your birth chart (Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius rising). In some ways, I think this transit could be beneficial for those looking to step into their power in a more fortified way. If you’ve been in need of an ego boost, you will definitely be getting it during this year’s Leo season — and if you’re interested in a personalized, in-depth analyzation of this month’s astrology, book a reading with me here.
