The highly anticipated Microsoft Xbox Games Showcase 2024 is fast approaching; fans can stream it on 9 June, at 10:30 pm IST. The excitement is palpable, with gamers around the world eagerly awaiting the latest reveals and updates from Microsoft.
From much-awaited sequels to new IPs, the most exciting aspect of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 is the sheer variety of games it’s likely to unveil. In fact, this time around, Microsoft is expected to highlight major franchises like Gears of War, Forza, Fable and Call of Duty.
Additionally, as part of its broader strategy, Microsoft may give fans insight into the company’s future plans. The Xbox Game Pass will likely be part of those plans and we might even get a glimpse at some of their upcoming hardware.

1. Gears of War 6
Gears 5 wasn’t just a massive success for Microsoft, it took the whole franchise in an entirely new direction. With a new protagonist, the introduction of a Zelda-like open-world exploration mechanic and its classic third-person combat,Gears 5was a fine addition to the franchise.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone then that Gears 6 is one of the most anticipated titles at Xbox Games Showcase 2024. It is also being suggested that The Coalition is working on a Halo: The Master Chief Collection-like package for the Gears franchise, bringing the whole series to modern consoles.

2. Fable
The Fable reboot by Playground Games is yet another highly-anticipated title at this year’s showcase. While the first trailer has already generated a lot of buzz, maybe this time around we will get to know more about the protagonist and the giant, played by Richard Ayoade.
During this year’s showcase, we are also hoping that Microsoft will finally announce a release date for this game, which has been in development for a while now.
3. Avowed
Obsidian Entertainment’s next first-person RPG garnered a lot of attention when it was shown during Xbox Dev Direct. It’s no surprise that the developer has added pretty much all their trademark elements to it, including dialogue choices and, from the looks of it, an engaging story. Besides that, it features a flexible combat system and a beautiful open world.
As it has been speculated that Avowed will be released in the latter half of 2024, Microsoft will likely reveal the precise date during this upcoming showcase.
4. State of Decay 3
We understand that Microsoft and developer Undead Labs have not even mentioned the game since its announcement in 2021. This is precisely why we believe we’ll finally get a glimpse of the next instalment in the survival horror franchise at this year’s showcase.
Recently, Jez Corden, editor ofWindows Central,even sparked rumours about the game’s launch when he mentioned during a podcast that State of Decay 3 is shaping up “very nicely.”
Well, we are definitely excited to see what the future of the franchise has in store for us.
6. Doom: The Dark Ages
A new instalment in the iconic Doom franchise, Doom: The Dark Ages is also expected to make an appearance at this year’s showcase. The new game will reportedly explore a mediaeval setting, blending the franchise’s classic demon-slaying action with a new, dark twist.
7. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
The newest chapter in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 6 dropped its first trailer in May 2024. As Microsoft and Activision promised to give new details on 9 June aka the day of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, fans can expect more information about the game’s campaign mode, multiplayer and release date. We are also hoping to see the Nintendo Switch on the list of supported platforms, as promised by Microsoft in 2023.
8. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Developed by MachineGames, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a first-person action-adventure title which promises to bring the thrilling adventures of the iconic archaeologist to consoles.
Featuring an original story, incredible visuals and high-quality voice acting, its first trailer generated a lot of hype, making it one of the most anticipated video game releases of the year. Though this game does not have a release date yet, and there’s no clarity about the platforms it’ll be coming out on, fans can expect more details during the showcase.
9. Contraband
Avalanche Studios, the developer of Mad Max, the Just Cause franchise and Rage 2, is working on a new game set in a 1970s smuggler’s paradise. It is expected to feature heist missions set in a rich, open-world environment as well as some exciting co-op multiplayer action.
As we had only seen a CGI trailer before, maybe this time Microsoft and Avalanche Studios will have more details to offer.
10. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
The long-awaited sequel to the cult hit first-person horror game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, promises to deliver a haunting and immersive experience in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
While there’s already an official release date for this title, we can always do with more information about this exciting sequel – including details about its gameplay mechanics and storyline.

As handheld consoles are all the rage nowadays, it comes as no surprise that Microsoft might be planning a similar device.
This rumoured device, possibly developed by the Surface team, is expected to focus on the cloud streaming capabilities of the Xbox Game Pass. On our end, we are hoping Microsoft builds a console that can run games natively, providing a better experience for gamers on the go.
