We’re coming down the home stretch to the Global Inclusive Growth Summit, which brings us to our final thematic pillar: digital transformation. Digital transformation can mean a lot of things, but in the context of inclusivity, we’re focusing on bringing people together through technologies and networks. This can mean a rural shopkeeper accepting payments through mobile platforms, last-mile healthcare delivery assisted by AI, and everything in between. These are exciting advances, and the potential for technology to connect anyone, anywhere with services is all but limitless. But in order for digital technology to truly be accessible to everyone, we need what’s called digital public infrastructure, or DPI. The describes DPI as being similar to roads, which form networks connecting people to goods and services that are essential to creating economic opportunity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, countries with DPI elements were able to provide cash transfer programs to more than 50 percent of the population, compared to just 16 percent of the population in countries with no trace of DPI. But like a road, DPI needs to be reliable in order to work. A road that’s pitted with potholes or blocked by an obstruction doesn’t do its job—rather than connecting people, it’s cutting them off. Similarly, faulty DPI restricts availability of services and creates concerns about cybersecurity and safety. If you’re interested in all things DPI and digital transformation, you’re not going to want to miss the Global Inclusive Growth Summit, where we’ll have leading experts like Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg, Nubank co-founder and CGO Cristina Junqueira, and so many more sharing their insights about what it will take to create a truly inclusive digital ecosystem.

DigitalC's Chief Executive Officer Joshua Edmonds explains #digitalredlining and the need for measures to bridge the digital divide in our communities - for good. Watch the video and learn more about digital redlining below:Systemic Discrimination: Digital redlining refers to the discriminatory practice of denying certain groups access to essential digital services, information, or opportunities based on factors like race, income, or location.Unequal Technology Access: Marginalized communities often have limited access to high-speed internet, digital education, and online services, further perpetuating social and economic disparities.Barriers to Progress: Digital redlining hinders social mobility and exacerbates existing inequalities, making it difficult for affected individuals and communities to fully participate in the digital age and benefit from its opportunities.
